All that proves is that the whole MMO genre sucks. Being the least sucky of a sucky thing isn't something to be proud of.
|
And for me, sport games suck and Sims-like games.
Too bad that in some MMO's grind is fun. In GW it isn't, as there is no point to grind other than to grind some more.

Atleast you quoted MY statement - So I'll respond to yours.
Guild wars is fake, we all know this. - And yes, I don't have to grind, I choose too; Why? for Vanity mostly.
However Most of you forget Guild Wars is a game, and if you can consturct your own world, why add boring elements to it ?

Tbh, no area requires a title, the people forming the groups do
Norn = Ursan, if you don't have R9+ gl finding a group for anything but Urgoz and that's even iffy because people can bring ursan and still have the necessary skills to complete the mish.
DoA people don't even say glf ursan anymore, it's GLF R9+/6. Sometimes it's just GLF R6+ lb and the ursan is just implied (as I recently learned when I was cussed out of a group because I didn't bring ursan when nothing was said about lf ursans)
ToPK, Furnace... absurdly easy, H/Hable, nothing worth worrying about.

That's like my saying that Puzzle games are boring therefore the Puzzle Game genre sucks. Wonderful logic, especially when there are only 2 required grinds in the whole of 4 games. You might need to look into ADD treatment.

You're right, of course, I just don't like MMOs. However, I figured I'd be nice and attack the genre for being uncreative, stupid, and simple-minded instead of ascribing those traits to the people who support it.
Although, I'd point out to the first guy that I can apparently skip the ADD treatment, since I managed to force myself to grind for HoM/FoW/titles for about 2 painful weeks before I gave up, realizing it was never going to be fun and I have absolutely no need for a few colorful computer graphics, especially considering the time traded for them.
$200 for 1000 hours of entertainment over 3 years was a pretty good deal, though.

Because it's
A) Really really easy, and
B) Good enough to keep many people occupied for a long time
Think about it: what is better from a design perspective? Making a ton of content most people will only see ONCE per character, or making 'some' content and requiring people to grind on it?
The latter is SOOO much easier, and for a great many people that's 'enough': so why make your game dev life so much harder just to get 'mild approval' from a few?

Only 1000h in 3 years?? You're kidding right? ... /end of sarcasm
I'm in full agreement with you. When you have a life full of stuff, from work to kids to books to commuting, the casual gameplay sort of removes the need and urge to grind by "magic". You're no longer in this amazing world that the new megacorp Activision Blizzard is abusing, the one where "the game never ends" (some called it ever crack?). Thanks to Anet for creating that brilliant game.
Start GW, have fun in whatever way, stop GW, go back to life feeling good. And do it again.

I'm a little confused here. You admit that Guild Wars has good tactical aspects, but because it doesn't "reward" you for it, it's bad? I just wanted to get this straight before anything else.

Actually, pretty crappy deal. I got my Diablo 2 for 2x $50 = $100, probably less, and played it for 8 years for at least 4000 hours. 1000 hours for $200 = $0.2 for an hour. 4000 for $100 = $0.03 per hour.

lol, I already have more than 2000 (not gonna say how many, or else people put me in a dungeon and say i have no life) hours in 3 years on GW.... :P~ you cannot use "yourself" or "anyself" as a standard to calculated that. I am sure when GW is into its 8th year I probably only have to pay $0.00005 for an hour play

People only grind to get stuff they think is cool. Others enjoy PVPing more. All depends on what you want more.
